Inventive Writing Prompt Round-Up #15

The weekly collection of prompts from my Tumblr blog (and don't forget, there are tons more here.)

#103 Write about how your main character exercises.  Does she go to the gym? Is he a runner training for the marathon?  Does she talk about starting an exercise program but never quite get to it?

#104 "If I were queen of the world, I would decree that Mondays did not exist," she said.

"But then Tuesdays would become Mondays," he said.

She shook her head.  ”I don’t care.  It just wouldn’t be the same.”

What one thing would you change if you ruled the world?

#105 What magazines do you, or your main character, read regularly? Make a list.  Write what this list says about you.  If you don’t read magazines, write about that.

#106 What is your favorite thing about airplane travel?  Your least favorite?

#107 Write about light, or the lack of it.  Every setting has a particular kind of light—bright and sunny, soft and glowy, dark and gray.  We writers look at all aspects of setting, but often forget to notice one of the most basic—light.

#108  When it was finally over, they….

#109  Write about a time when your body hurt.  What from?  Why?  How long did it last?

Now go forth and write! But first leave a comment–what's your most helpful writing tip?

These are some good prompts. My protagonist has somewhat strange exercise habits. Of course, I read GARDEN AND GUN. lol. And I haven’t written a novel about #109, but . . . .

103- as much as running and exercise is a part of my life, I’ve never thought to have my characters exercise. I wonder what that means…

104- I wouldn’t do away with Mondays, that’s for sure. Monday is my day off work!

105- running magazines and healthy cooking magazines. Yep.

106- I have cloister phobia. Planes are not my friend. Unless one is taking me to Italy.

107- near my home there is a field full of recently rolled haystacks. Every time I drive by I think of Van Gogh.

108- depends on what they did….:)

109- my body hurt after my half marathon. But it was a good hurt. It also hurt after a surgery gone slightly wrong. That was a bad hurt.

I’m going to expand on these in my journal. Thanks Char!

I'm so glad they were helpful to you, and I loved your answers to each of them–its fun to get to learn a bit more about you!

Charlotte! You are planning a book of prompts, aren’t you? People would pay for this list.

BTW, if my MC were the ruler of the world, no child wound be without–food, homes, love, protection…

Ah, thanks, Zan Marie!  I guess I better consider doing a book!  I appreciate the suggestion.  And I love what you said about your MC.
