Inventive Writing Prompt Round-up #47

It's Saturday, and you know what that means, don't you?  Darn right, it's time for prompts.  Here's my weekly round-up of them for you, compiled from my Tumblr blog.  And don't forget I wrote a blog post about prompt writing this week, which you can read here.

#323  Country or city?  Which is your character most comfortable in? If its the city, show her on the farm.  If its the country, write a scene with him in the city.

#324  If your character could live anywhere in the world, where would that be?

#325  Write a diary of what you (or your main character) ate yesterday, and through this account create a window into the emotions and events of the day.

#326  She was tired of it all.  So tired of the pain, the distraction, and the anxiety.  So one day she ……..

#327  If your character was assigned to start making something right now, what would it be? Dinner?  A knitted sweater? A painting? A musical composition? What and why?

#328  He sat across from the card reader, who spread her deck out on the table between them.   When she was finished, she gazed at the cards and gasped. She looked at him, once more at the cards, back to him.  “This is absolutely incredible,” she said.  “Because…..”

#329  “It’s not much further now,” he called, beads of sweat popping out on his forehead.

How's your writing going?

My character, Moses Palmer, would probably live in Atlanta, the city he was ran out of. Maybe Chattanooga, where he now lives. But . . . . There are so many things to consider. Let assume money is not an issue. Victoria’s Peak in Hong Kong wouldn’t be bad. That city has plenty of energy and a night-life that rivals anywhere. Southern Brazil: I haven’t been there but I’m told it is clean, beautiful, a latin copy of Austria. If not the U.S. and choosing off the top of his head, he would try Rome first. Find just the right little flat. He and Maddie would stroll the piazzas, visit the art, spend the early evenings stuffing themselves with pasta and red wine–until the first body turned up.

    Look at some pictures.

Tom Brady’s wife, Giselle Bundgen, is from there. Not sure about the spelling.

Not quite the same thing, but cool nonetheless.

  5. Charlotte Dixon

    Ha! You would know that….

    Moses + Rome = book 3?

  7. J.D.

I wish. lol. Moses can’t get far on a cop’s salary. His friend (yours truly) plans on submitting to Charlotte’s Boot Camp for Writers in France. Italy is only a bus ride over the Alps with a stop in Lucerne, but unless I can borrow some money from Moses, I won’t be making that trip. Wouldn’t we all love to write a book in Rome. I don’t think the setting would quite fit what I do, but wouldn’t Rome inspire something in all of us.

  8. Charlotte Dixon

Yes.  I've never been there, but I'm sure it would.  You're going to get even MORE inspired by our boot camp in France, though!

  9. Dyoung

Y’all keep throwing that France trip into conversation. Makes beginners like me really want to go!

  10. Charlotte Dixon

We will.  And you should come next year.  Doesn't matter if you are a beginner of the most advanced writer on earth, or somewhere in between.  We'd love to have you!

  11. Dyoung

I may keep that on my radar:)
