It was not a great way to start the day. A migraine, she’d expected. A migraine, she could deal with. Meds by the bed, along with an unopened bottle of Emergency Water.
Power out on the coldest day of the year, however, she had not prepared for. Her little house might be in a fairly mild climate zone, but 10 degrees was not mild, not by any means. Not on hardwood floors.
And she’d left her house shoes downstairs, next to the Emergency Coffee maker.

Great start.
