Emma Jean Update & Pub Date

Black_glasses_publish_263961_lSo, auditorally is not a word.

Who knew?

But this, my dear writing friends, is why God created copy editors: to tell us such things.

I recently finished going through the copy edits for my forthcoming novel, Emma Jean's Bad Behavior, and my wonderful copy editor researched the word auditorally in three dictionaries before deciding that it really isn't a word.    I think I may have made up a couple other words along the way; I know for certain I made up usages of a word here or there.

Going through the editing process of this book has made me hugely grateful for the art of editing.  It's been a wonderful experience all the way through, and I know for certain that the editing has made it a much stronger book.

I have a publishing date!

Drum roll please…..

It's February 12th.

By my reckoning, that is the second Tuesday in February, just in time to buy as a gift for Valentine's Day.

I'm very excited.

And oh so grateful.

Congratulations on the auspicious date, Charlotte. Will it be epublished at the same time?

Fantastic, a publishing date! Is it going to be available in e-book or is it just print? And will advance orders be possible?

CanNOT wait, Charlotte!!! And I was just about to ask what Patrick asked: will advance orders be possible?? I love my little Kindle, but (I don’t know why) I want Emma Jean in my hands (ok, that didn’t sound like what I meant, sigh).

Congratulations – and yahoo!!!!! One thing more: auditorally is a great word! And now there’s a record (right here on your blog) that proves that YOU created it. xox

It's print and e-book.  And that's a great question about advance orders, I'm not sure.  It will be available on Amazon, so I assume so.  Thanks for asking, Patrick.

Thanks, Deonne.  I've worked on this novel for so long I'm a little nervous about it actually going out into the world, but excited, too!

I'm so glad you liked the word auditorally, Karen.  But when three dictionaries agree with the copy editor.  Well, all I can do is sigh and hope it becomes official some day.  Thanks so much for your support!

That is definitely one of the reasons why God created copy editors. They are a special breed. Especially when it comes to working with talented writers who would rather not have their work criticized.

At the end of the process, editors make us look good to the readers, especially those readers who seem to go through the books looking for extra spaces between words, or other things that should not be there. Editors who know how to do their job and make the effort to carry out their task to perfection make us look good.

Tim, I'm now a huge fan of copy editors! My content editor was great, too. Thanks for the congrats and for stopping by.
