Away And Back Again (Ish)

It’s been a hot minute, hasn’t it?
How it Started
I wrote this blog regularly (sometimes even, gasp, every day) since March 28, 2007. (You can read the very first post here.) I loved this blog. It was the start of so much for me, a career giving advice to writers, book coaching, hosting workshops overseas, meeting so many other wonderful people. (Some of whom I am still in touch with today.)

How it Proceeded
But, as happens, I wandered away from it. I did not, however, wander away from my career giving writing advice, book coaching, hosting those workshops in France and England and Italy, or writing novels myself. I just did all that from a new location. Like so many others, I discovered Substack. It has its problems, that’s for sure, and like all good things it is getting more complicated and harder to like. But from the start, it also reminded me of what it was like to blog in 2007, in the glory days of blogging. When we all went around commenting on each other’s blogs and making friends. Before social media took over all that.
Until today, the most recent post I made on here was in 2020. (Remember 2020? Of course you do. Pandemic central. Lockdown. Waiting for vaccines. Etc.) But all those years, I paid for web hosting for this blog because I couldn’t bear to let it go the way of all old blogs, accessible only through the Wayback Machine. My webhost was a wonderful woman in Spain and every year she’d ask me what I wanted to do with this blog and every year I’d wring my hands and say, “Oh geez, I don’t know.” Then I’d pay her for hosting and carry on as if nothing had happened.
Finally, she read me the riot act, and said she was no longer able to host me. I had to do something, stat. But luckily, I was referred to another wonderful woman in Spain, Alexandra, who has come to my rescue. Together, we have come up with a plan.
What Happens Now
We’re going to keep this baby, my first internet child, going!
With some crucial updates it will remain here for all to peruse. And, I’m going to do my best to update here with new posts regularly. You think there’s a lot of articles on here? I’ve got more, people. Lots more. And the plan is to dribble them over here, spruce them up, and make them palatable for a new generation of readers.
So, stay tuned!
And meanwhile, you can find me on my Substack, on which I write a love letter about creative inspiration and motivation every week, and often offer up mid-week posts as well. You can also find me on the Let’s Go Write site. (Do come check us out–we are currently booking for our creative writing workshop in England in May 2026.) I also have a book coaching site, should you be so inclined to check that out. And you can buy my novels here.
And because you are patient and have read this far, I reward you with a photo of Chip the pug, the dog we rescued last December. He’s brought so much joy into our lives!

See you back here soon!
